When claims organizations think about vendor data security, the conversation usually begins and ends with managed care platforms and TPA systems. But every vendor touching an active claim handles sensitive information, and transportation and language services vendors are no exception. Coordinating a ride to a medical appointment or an interpreter for an evaluation means handling injured worker locations, appointment details, and documentation tied directly to an open claim. That is a meaningful data footprint, and it deserves the same scrutiny given to any other vendor in the claims ecosystem.

Several states raised their standard mileage reimbursement rate this year, following a midyear increase to the federal mileage rate. When a reimbursement rate changes, it is common for that figure to get compared against a transportation invoice, as though the two numbers should move together. They do not, and the difference is worth understanding before it becomes a point of confusion on a file.

A missed independent medical examination (IME) is rarely a scheduling inconvenience. In a litigated claim, it can shape the outcome: compensability findings, disability ratings, and the strength of the medical-legal record can all turn on whether that appointment happened. A number of states treat attendance at these evaluations as a substantive part of the claims process, not an administrative formality.
