That same excitement was carried into our weekend; sometimes purposeful trips turn into memories you'll never forget.
We headed to New York to move Logan into his three-week program at Columbia, only realizing that week we'd also be there for the FIFA World Cup Final.
Friday started at Adidas World under the Brooklyn Bridge, where we stepped right into the heart of the soccer world. Seeing the Manhattan skyline, customizing Spain jerseys, and feeling the excitement before the match was something special.
The best part? The people.
I was there with Julia, a client of ours who moved to the U.S. from Spain at 17 and has become one of my closest friends. Claudia, another client turned dear friend who lives in the city, hosted us for a fun rooftop dinner Friday night. Her daughter took our kids out for TikTok famous snacks and spots while the adults enjoyed cocktails in Greenwich, and she joined us again Sunday to watch the match. Julia's daughter, who feels like family to my boys, was right there with us too. Another friend in the industry even spotted us on social media and came to meet up and watch the match together in Midtown.
Meanwhile, Logan had other priorities. At halftime, he left to grab everything he needed for Columbia, walking through Times Square carrying a laundry basket while thousands of fans poured into the streets after the match. Somehow that perfectly sums up college move-in weekend.
Sunday morning started with an 8:00 a.m. Peloton class before a 1.2 mile walk back through Midtown. Everywhere you looked, people were proudly wrapped in Spain and Argentina flags. Firehouses had their doors open, firefighters watched the celebration with smiles, police calmly lined the streets, and the entire city came together in what can only be described as organized, joyful chaos. Watching history unfold in one of New York's neighborhood bars, surrounded by people from all over the world celebrating their cultures, is something I'll never forget.
We came to New York to help Logan start his next chapter. We left with an unforgettable reminder of what this industry can turn into when you let it. Julia, Claudia, their daughters, a friend who tracked us down in Midtown. What started as client relationships grew into genuine friendships, and some of life's best moments aren't planned. They happen when opportunity, relationships, and a little bit of good timing all collide.
